Deputies Remain in Critical Condition as Investigation Continues**

On May 24, 2023, two Macomb County Police Department officers were shot and injured while conducting a traffic stop near Eight Mile Road and Interstate 94.

According to preliminary reports, the officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation when the suspect inside the vehicle opened fire, striking both officers with multiple rounds.

The officers were transported to a local hospital in stable but critical condition. Their identities have not yet been released.

Suspect in Custody, Motive Under Investigation**

The suspect in the shooting was taken into custody shortly after the incident. The suspect's motive is currently under investigation.

"This is a senseless act of violence against two brave officers who were simply doing their job," said Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured officers and their families during this difficult time."

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident and asking for the public's assistance in providing any information that may lead to further arrests or insights into the suspect's motive.
